" I can whole heartedly say this is something I wish I had done several years ago.
So after years of Managing a DSP for Amazon logistics I decided the time was right and a change was needed. I really wanted to be my own boss & work for myself but with the backing of a successful well established and proven national company, I did lots of research in the Locksmith franchise field as being a locksmith had always been something that really intrigued and interested me.
I made the initial contact with LockRite and soon after spent the whole day in Exeter where I met the Bosses the trainer and the team, everything was explained to me and all my questions were answered in great detail (extremely informative ) – there was a lot to go through as after all buying into a Franchise isn’t cheap and is a life changing decision, I seen the training facilities and was told the training structure which seemed extremely professional and very relevant.
I went away and after careful deliberation decided LockRite would be my future, I was excited to be involved with this hugely successful company.
The five weeks training course was very structured, professional and relevant everything was covered through the modules in great detail meaning I was armed with the knowledge and skills to go out and start earning from day one ! Yes I was nervous and a little apprehensive when training had finished and on the drive home but I always knew I had the backing from the whole team & the trainer at LockRite.
Well I am now a few months into Trading in my first year as a LockRite Locksmith Franchisee and it honestly couldn’t be going much better I took all the advise given to me from the team and ive applied it out in the real world my earning potential has exceeded my expectations in this period and im relishing the diƯerent challenges I face each day no two days are ever the same, I couldn’t be happier with how everything has started off."

“I decided to join LockRite in May 2021. So come June this year, I will hit the two-year mark.
I first knew about LockRite when I first decided on becoming a locksmith. Having chosen a new vocation, (I was a train driver before) a friend of mine who was a locksmith with LockRite kindly allowed me to shadow him a few days here and there when I could fit it in.
I really liked the professional look of LockRite and I also noticed how busy he was. I eventually went into it alone as a sole trader alongside being a part time train driver. After paying for SEO, advertising, website design and God knows what else, you then realise the hardest part of this industry is indeed getting the phone to ring. People want a locksmith on the spot! It’s generally an emergency service so being high on an internet search is, in my opinion, essential.
I maintained a few local jobs a week if lucky, but really needed and wanted more. That’s when the opportunity arose for my area with LockRite. Going into it without seeing first-hand how they worked, I doubt I would ever have invested in a franchise through fear of being ripped off or sold a lie. However, seeing first-hand how they worked, and indeed how busy my friend was, I was confident and trusted them.
So, on joining them I can honestly say it’s been a great move.
Now, locksmithing itself is a great job, of course in my opinion, however it comes with headaches, advertising, getting the work etc as mentioned above but on joining LockRite, this was eliminated overnight."

After completing 24 years’ service in H M Forces, I became a Railway Technical Engineer for 7 years. It’s hard to imagine the similarities between these two professions, but they are very much alike. Arduous, demanding, tiring, stressful and at times plain crazy. But also very rewarding, with a sense of achievement and satisfaction at doing something to a very high standard or having a desired effect. A big part of both of these jobs was knowing that somebody, or a number of people are directly benefiting from the work that I have done, whether on my own or as part of a team. This has always been a personal focus of mine, to do the best I can and take reward in the satisfaction that my work is needed and appreciated. Unfortunately, the 7 years as a Railway Engineer took its toll, the work/life balance wasn’t there for me, and (I don’t mind admitting) I lost my way. It was all work and no play, I was getting older and realising that life isn’t all about being successful at work, it’s also about being happy, and I wasn’t.
As luck would have it, a very good friend of mine who is also ex-military and a LockRite Locksmith, told me about the franchise opportunity available for the area in which I am now living. In fact, I had actually quizzed him about becoming a locksmith 2 years prior to leaving the railway, but the timing wasn’t right. Now it was right for various reasons and it was time to make a move. Life changing decisions aren’t easy to make but, I did the research, made initial contact with LockRite and spent a whole day in Exeter at LockRite Head Office. I met ‘The Bosses’, ‘The Trainer’, ‘The Team’; I talked to them, asked questions I needed to ask and was given all the information I needed to make a clear and informed decision. They weren’t just interviewing me, I was also interviewing them; that’s important! Buying into a franchise isn’t cheap, it’s a big commitment both financially and personally. After careful deliberation, I had no doubt that after 31 years of ‘working for someone else’, I could make it on my own, and still have that sense of reward, achievement and satisfaction without detriment to my personal well-being. I could be in control of how, when and where on my terms and still be successful at work and in life.
The five week training course was second-to-non! Structured, very professional and relevant. I was taught everything I needed to know about being a Locksmith to start trading and earn an income from day one. Yes I had self-doubts and worries, that’s normal and I would be concerned if I wasn’t, but the technical help was always, and still is available whenever needed. The LockRite network of franchisees is also available to help and suggest solutions to difficult situations too. Working for yourself doesn’t mean you’re on always on your own, the team is there to help whenever required and having that level of back-up is a massive confidence boost. The first few weeks were daunting to say the least. In principle it was exactly as I had been taught, but in practice it was very different. I had to make on-the-spot decisions and achieve solutions to problems I hadn’t expected. In hindsight, the solution was exactly as I had been taught, it was only the problem had been presented in a different way than expected. So just over two years later, I know I made the right decision to become a Locksmith. There will always be something new that I haven’t seen or done, but I have the confidence and skills to find the solution and do a good job for my customers."

Franchise Launch 2nd April 2018
Prior to joining the LockRite team I was a self-employed wall and floor tiler, I wasn’t earning the right kind of money I wanted for my future and was tired of coming home dirty and feeling demotivated. Before this, I worked in an office for 13 years doing the same monotonous work at the same location day in, day out, so knew I needed to change.
I have the mentality of "not happy, don’t moan about it and be all negative - make the right positive choices and changes as no-one else will do it for you, one crack at life make most of it !!!"
I knew I was happy with being self-employed and working with my hands, loved driving and meeting and helping people on a daily basis, so needed to find a career that suited those needs.
After searching online for career options I stumbled upon a franchise website and delved deeper into looking at different career options to suit my needs - hands on, driving, different locations, own boss, financially rewarding and support.
Booooom!! I found LockRite Locksmiths, so I sent an email enquiring for further information to start the ball rolling. The process was incredibly simple: I spoke to the team and asked direct (and some would say too direct) questions on financials but LockRite were transparent and answered everything, putting my mind at ease.
We then set up a meeting in Exeter for the day to discuss. I loved what I heard and saw, so off I went to secure the relevant funding. I received a welcome pack outlining everything I would receive and modules I would undertake in the intense 5-week training provided and also a list of names and numbers of other franchisees, who I could ask direct questions too. Winner winner everyone was soooooo friendly and helpful, I knew I was making the right decision.
Now I am a fully trained Locksmith with my own large territory, fully kitted out and sign written van, constant work from day 1 and a team, or should I say work family, behind me helping us all succeed for the future.
I started my franchise in April 2018 and words cannot describe how happy I am with my decision…!! Training was superb, communication and support team superb, the amount of work I have received and earnings already - AWESOME! so really happy with my new and only career decision."

I weighed up the options of investing in the Lockrite franchise or to go it alone, after meeting the team and seeing the well developed infrastructure put in place it made the decision a whole lot easier for me to make.
After going through my 5 week intensive training, which I will add from the practical too accounts was top class! I was itching to get out there to earn some money, as by now I hadn't taken a wage for two months. The whole time through training I was assured I would be earning from day one, I was dubious as I know in any new business it takes time but just as the team said from week one my income exceeded expectations!
At times it's been hard work and very demanding but as long as your willing to make it work, it will! This is all without me personally having to put out a substantial advertising/marketing campaign(I'm not sure I could find the time to fit anymore work in if I did).
After a year in business and nearly 800 jobs later I still stand by my decision 100%. with the continued support, joint teamwork and progression I'm confident this will stay the same throughout my five year term.
This would be a good time to say thank you to the whole team for all the hard work and opportunities which as helped my business become successful."

I joined LockRite in August 2016 and straight from the start I knew that I had made the right decision, I had enquired with some other franchise options that just didn't compare.

Over the past 5 years I have grown my business in terms of turnover and profit every year and have built up a solid customer base in my area which continues to grow and provide regular work. These existing customers along with local advertising, a strong presence on Google and a growing national account portfolio provides a consistently high volume of work.
The on-going support from LockRite has been great in terms of technical support and training as well as the excellent work of the staff in the call centre who deal with our calls and job allocation.
The network of franchisees’ work well together and provide an invaluable source of expertise and support. I look forward to a prosperous second term. "

As ex-military I was looking for, and expecting, a high level of professionalism and dedication from the initial interviews, through the training period and continuing on afterwards once I had launched my franchise. LockRite not only met these criteria, but surpassed them in every way. After my initial launch when the work was slow to start, I felt reassured by the advice from the support team as well as contact with other franchisees, through our on-line forum, who had gone through the same process.
I have now been running my own franchise since April 2013 and am more than pleased that I chose this as my new career. The excellent training package had me more than prepared for most of the work that I encounter. There are times however, when on a job, that I come across something that I need help with and this is where the franchisee technical support really comes into its own. Knowing that there is always someone you can speak to for advice is reassuring, as well as a huge confidence boost.
I have no regrets whatsoever about choosing a franchise with LockRite and have no hesitation in recommending it to others. "

However, do not think handing over the cash to purchase the franchise gives you a ready made business, it still takes a lot of hard work and effort to develop your territory, where you have to be prepared to work long hours, generate your own marketing, and advertising, and be prepared to be continually learning and developing your skill base, but that is also a great attraction and why I love my job so much, I am in control of my own destiny, and as my reputation develops I also generate more business in my area. Already from an engineering background, it was fairly easy to pick up and learn the fundamentals required to be a locksmith but the tricky particulars and secrets to this profession were diligently delivered during the month long training program at Exeter’s head office. Ongoing support providing skills development and onsite technical input has been invaluable and always available.
The franchise concept has been carefully formulated by Lockrite. The right balance is in place to build a successful network with sound procedures, quality ethics and commitment to customer satisfaction and value. As individuals, we take pride in our customer relationships and are dedicated to leaving customers satisfied, safe and secure with that peace of mind that goes with a job well done.
Locksmith work is enormously varied, requiring broad ranging capabilities from unlocking the most secure of locks and designing and installing complex control systems to getting locked out customers in promptly without further distress or making good after a break in and make secure again or provide reassurance that all is safe.
Attending callouts at 3am may not be to everyone’s liking but the variety and satisfaction that goes with the job makes up for a few disturbed nights and with almost a hundred other Lockrite Locksmiths now covering the country we always have a backup plan not far away to help out if required. "
